Tinubu-Shettima Grassroots Independent Campaign Council Sensitize Support Groups On BVAS

The Tinubu-Shettima Grassroots Independent Campaign Council (ICC), Ogun State has observed a day to sensitize Support Groups on the use of Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) in the 2023 general election.

The seminar took place at Conference Hotel, Abeokuta, on Friday, December 16.

The State Coordinator of Tinubu-Shettima Grassroots Independent Campaign Council, Otunba Gbenga Daniel who also double as Ogun East APC Senatorial Candidate of All Progressives Congress announced that the body has already hit the ground running in Ogun State with a highly strategic, multi-level engagements with the grassroots voters, youths and elderly citizens in various communities of the state.

INEC top official, Mr Titus Olusesan Fadipe explained to participants at the one day seminar that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System is programmed to integrate the three-stage voting process.
“It is an integrated device that is multifunctional in nature, which serves as Voter Enrolment Device (IVED) during voter registration, voter accreditation on Election Day and also functions as INEC Results Viewing Device (IReV Device) to be used for election results upload on Election Day.”

“Integrated into the INEC Voter Enrollment Device, the BVAS will com­bine fingerprint and facial authentication to ensure that the person holding the PVC is the one that will vote.”


The BVAS, which was designed to replace the Smart Card Reader for verification and authentication as part of improved voter accreditation process was deployed for the first time in a major election after the successful pilot in the Isoko South I State Constituency in Delta State in September 2021.

Participants at the seminar include leaders of Ogun State ICC including former Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Titi Oseni-Gomes,  Senator Obadara, Hon. Suraj Adekunbi, Hon. Fatai Sowemimo, Soji Akin Bankole, Hon. Bayo Adenekan, Alhaji Jimoh Lateef, Dr. Babatunde Onadeko, Hon. Job Obafemi, General Muyiwa Okunowo (rtd), Gboyega Okegbenro, senatorial, federal representative units, and local government coordinators who are expected to train their members across the state.
