Delta state born Spain-trained movie actress cum producer, Vida Modelo in this exclusive interview with glamtush talks about ‘The Pink Room’ a new talk show she featured in, her style and more.
You are one of the ladies in the talk show ‘The Pink Room’. What is the show all about?
The Pink Room is something very different, interesting and not like your normal talk shows. There are so many things in the society that ladies do or want to do but they don’t want to talk about it, so it is a show where straight from the heart, daring and entertaining conversations is held.
The Pink Room talk show is all about daring … we talk about everything that nobody wants to talk about. We talk about sex, bad habits, irritating characters, family, relationship, career and so many other interesting topics in an entertaining but educative manner.
So, I will recommend everyone to watch the show as you are definitely going to learn something from it.
From my understanding, the show is supposed to be a ‘no holds barred’ kind of talk show. But are you sure some ladies did not hold nothing back?
When we were filming, the director kept saying ‘don’t hold anything back’ but of course Vida is a very real person. I just say the things the way it’s supposed to be, it is and the way it should be. So people might not really like me in the show but trust me, I have people like me out there on the streets. I believe in the streets, I love the street. I am the street and the street is me.
So to answer your question, I will say I’m real in the show but for my other colleagues, I don’t know what to say about them. But the show will tell who is fake and who is real or who is holding something back.
Who came up with the concept of The Pink Room show?
It is a Tchidi Chikere’s concept. He is the producer and director of the show. He is one person who is extremely talented and creative. When he called me for the job I was excited. We have worked together for many years. He said when he was writing the script I was the first person who came to his mind. He said, I am so real, so, he knows this show is me. And so far so good, it’s been fun, fights and everything but really cool.
How have you been able to blend with these ladies knowing fully well that you have lived outside the country for so long?
Most people will say it’s difficult but It’s was pretty easy for me. I am this straight forward and real person. I don’t fake it, so coming to work with different ladies like Uriel Oputa, Ese Eriate, Anita Joseph, Bidemi Kosoko and Nichole Banna was pretty easy. Some are quiet while some are aggressive but working with them was easy for me because I have seen the good, bad and ugly. I am from a family that has so many girls so each of them has a character in my family, so it was easy to blend. When I see that they are overbearing, I just ignore, put my ear piece on and do my thing. However, I will give thumps up to the director because he was able to get ladies who could tolerate. In all, I will stress that it was wonderful working as a family and no beefs so far. For me personally, you can’t even beef me because can you fight with water? I’m like water and water does not have an enemy.
What qualities do you think you have that made Tchidi Chikere call you to be part of the show?
I am a simple person. Aside that I’m very principled, say the truth at all times, hardworking and very focused. Those are the quality Tchidi Chikere needs.
How long have you known each other?
That should be since 2009 and he came to Spain to film with me in 2010. There is time for fight and time for business but we are all growing by the day and more matured. I have understood the industry in Nigeria right now.
Aside acting what other thing do you do?
I have been into business for a while now. I have my baby shop and beauty spa in Delta state. I’m from Delta state so I do most of my things there. I’m also working on a new project right now which I cannot reveal until it’s ready.
What did you learn from the Pink Room show?
I have learnt to be more real at all times because people are watching you. I have learnt to tolerate people no matter how difficult it is because there are some things that people will say just to provoke you. I have also learnt to watch people first because I say some things about them
How would you describe your fashion sense?
I love it very unique, simple and sexy. I’m not a designer person. I prefer that what I wear suits me. I don’t believe in how much you are wearing but how it fits you. So, I love to look simple, sexy and classy.
Why do you love rocking gold hair colour?
It suits my skin colour. Before I even say anything when you see me, you will know that that is Vida.
