A suspected terrorist has died in a failed bomb attempt.
Glamtush reports that a yet-to-be-identified 50-year-old man was killed in an explosion in Tel Aviv with a passerby sustaining injuries.
The Shin Bet is actively involved in the investigation and the police are considering all possible motives, including terrorism.
The explosion which occurred on Sunday night damaged a truck with police confirming that the man himself had carried the device, Haaretz reports.
Tel Aviv District Commander, Superintendent Peretz Amar, stated at the scene that identifying the man is crucial to determining whether the explosion was criminal or terrorist in nature.
“It could be terrorism or a criminal act,” said the district commander, adding that they are giving serious consideration to the possibility it was an act of terrorism.
Peretz added that the police received dozens of emergency calls, with citizens and officers reporting a mangled body and scattered body parts in the street.
He disclosed further that the injured person in the incident was passing through the area on a scooter.
