Six Injured As Fuel Tanker Rams Into Several Vehicles In Plateau
The Plateau State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Thursday said six persons were injured when a fuel tanker rammed into several vehicles in Jos, the state capital.
The FRSC Route Commander in the state, Andrew Bala, told Punch Metro in Jos that the accident occurred at the popular Polo Roundabout in the city centre around 9 am.
Bala said, “The driver of the articulated truck, with number plate, ABJ283XK, had a possible brake failure and rammed into some vehicles, including a Toyota Corolla, a Peugeot 307, an Opel Zagira and three tricycles.
“As a result, three adult males and three adult females out of a total of 12 persons involved in the accident were injured and taken to the hospital.”
The route commander advised drivers of heavy-duty trucks to always take alternative routes as the stretch to Polo Roundabout is a descending slope not conducive for heavy-duty vehicles.
He also urged motorists to conduct routine maintenance and checks on their vehicles before plying the roads.
