Singer Lil Frosh Remanded In Prison For Assaulting Girlfriend

 

 

 

 

Nigerian singer, Sani Goriola Wasiu better known as Lil Frosh, has been remanded in prison for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.

The artiste was arraigned at the Chief Magistrate Court 1, Yaba on February 8, on a one count charge for assaulting his girlfriend, Okeoghene Taiye Iyometerie also known on Instagram as Geminme, in 2020.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge. The musician had no counsel to represent him in court. Following his plea, Magistrate Olatunbosun ordered his remand in the correctional facility and adjourned the matter till March 9.

Iyomaterie’s manager, Michael, had on October 5, 2020, on his Instagram page, accused Lil Frosh of assaulting her. He, however, denied the claim in an interview.

Lil Frosh was invited by the policemen at the Federal Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Alagbon, on Thursday, February 4

, for interrogation.

According to reports, the case gained new momentum when the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Lagos State chapter got involved.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge of assault punishable under Section 173 of the Criminal Code Law of Lagos State 2015.

Chairperson, Lagos state Chapter of FIDA, Barr (Mrs) Chinwe Efobi in a chat with BarristerNG said;

“We have waited for this arraignment for long and we have been able to surmount all the obstacles. This has further reinforced our belief that no one is above the law. FIDA will always see to it that justice is done at all times.”
