Zamfara: Shinkafi Emirate Traditional Title Holders Resign Over Fani-Kayode’s Title
There has been a wave of a mass resignation by many traditional title holders in the Shinakfi Emirate Council over the conferment of ‘Sadaukin Shinkafi’ title on former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode.
He was conferred with the title by the Emir of Shinkafi, Alhaji Muhammad Isah Makwashe.
Beyond the controversies and condemnation generated in the state especially in social media circles, many holders of traditional titles in the Emirates are tendering their resignations in protest against the conferment of the title to Fani-Kayode, a perceived sworn enemy of the caliphate and its noble ancestry.
Dr. Tijjani Salihu Shinkafi, a traditional title holder in Shinkafi led the wave of resignation on Tuesday. It was followed by an emergency press conference by a group known as ‘Sokoto Reloaded’ which rejected the decision of Shinkafi Emirate Council on the planned coronation of Fani- Kayode as “Sadaukin Shinkafi.”
In a letter of resignation dated today, July 22, and sent to the Emir, they are calling on the royal kingdom to do the needful to save itself from further embarrassment.
Three other traditional title holders in the Emirate –Hon. Bilyaminu Yusuf (Sardauna Shinkafi); Alhaji Umar Bala Ajiya (Dan Majen Shinkafi) and Hajia Hadiza Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari (Iyar Shinkafi) tendered their resignation.
They pleaded to be excused as title holders in the Emirate until “Sadaukin Shinkafi is relinquished and we implore other title holders to do the same.”
