Seven Petrol Stations Sealed In Adamawa (See Why)

Seven petrol stations have been sealed in Adamawa.

Glamtush reports that authorities of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, Yola field office, Adamawa State, said it had sealed seven filling stations for raising pump price.

This online platform gathered that the filling stations were found selling petrol above the pump price of N165.

The NMDPRA Operations Controller, Yola field office, Sadiq Ibraheem, disclosed this to journalists in Yola on Friday.

He said the petroleum sector regulator, which intensified its surveillance and monitoring following scarcity of petroleum products experienced in the state in the last two weeks, had sealed off seven stations.

He added that the agency issued three other stations queries for minor infringement over the sale of petroleum products above the official pump price.

Sadiq said, “We regrettably closed down seven stations within the last two weeks. Three of them were able to pay the penalty to the government and we unsealed them. The remaining four are still under seal. The infringement which warranted the sealing of the petrol stations is selling above the pump price. It is not related to hoarding.”

He also noted that the action of the agency had recorded some gains by easing fuel queues which had become a dominant feature across petrol stations in Yola.

Meanwhile, motorists in the state say they have seen some improvements in the availability of petroleum products as fuel queues begin to ease off in the state.
