Mariah Carey has announced the death of her mother and sister on the same day.
Glamtush reports that American singer, Mariah Carey has confirmed that her mother, Patricia, and sister, Alison, both passed away on the same day last weekend.
This online news platform understands that the multiple Grammy-winning singer disclosed this in a statement on Monday, but did not share the causes of death for either women or the specific day.
“My heart is broken that I have lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day. I was blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed.
“I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time,” she concluded.
Before her passing, Mariah Carey’s mother, Patricia, a renowned opera singer, collaborated with her daughter.
Mariah Carey has previously revealed that her mother was the inspiration behind her music career.
Carey had an estranged relationship with her sister, Alison.
According to a report by Variety, Carey revealed in her memoir that she found it “emotionally and physically safer” to not have any contact with her sister Alison and her brother Morgan.
Carey’s father, Alfred Roy Carey, died from cancer in 2002 at 72.
Patricia was an opera singer and was previously married to Alfred Roy Carey, the singer’s father. The parents divorced when the singer was three years old.
