Police Surround Afrika Shrine To Prevent #EndSARS Meeting

Officers of the Nigeria Police Force on Tuesday surrounded the vicinity of New Afrika Shrine, where a meeting on #EndSARS protests was expected to hold today, November 17.

Glamtush had reported that Seun, the youngest son of late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, had earlier sent out flyers announcing a meeting on the lessons from #EndSARS protests at the Afrika Shrine today.

It was gathered that policemen were strategically placed on streets leading to the Afrika Shrine, a popular relaxation spot in the Ikeja area of Lagos State.

Also, some policemen were seen at the entrance of the venue of the botched meeting.

The police had yesterday written a letter to the Anikulapo family with a warning that the meeting must not hold.

Seun while announcing that the police had sent a letter to them, says he respects his family and would change the venue.

Many activists and #EndSARS campaigners had indicated an interest in attending the meeting before the convener of the meeting, Seun Anikulapo Kuti, said the meeting had been suspended.
