Police Commission Promotes Four AIGs, CP To DIG, 13 CPs Become AIGs

 

 

 

The Police Service Commission (PSC) on Friday promoted four Assistant Inspectors-General of Police and one Commissioner of Police to the substantive rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police.

The new DIGs were expected to represent their geo-political zones in the Police Management Team.

They are Usman Baba, currently acting DIG Administration; Dan Mallam Mohammed, AIG in charge of Zone 13 Ukpo, Anambra State; David Folawiyo, AIG in charge of Zone 17, Akure and Joseph Egbunike, CP, Budget.

According to a statement by the PSC spokesman,  Ikechukwu Ani, the decision was taken at the meeting of the commission in Abuja.

The commission also promoted 13 CPs to AIG. They include, CP, Kebbi State, Augunbiade Lasore; retired CPs Uche Anozie, and  Kenneth Ebrimson; CP, Osun State, Undie Adie and Olugbenga Adeyanju, CP, Adamawa State.

Others are  CP, Edo State, Johnson  Kokumo; the Commandant, Police College, Ikeja, Ajani Babatunde; retired CP Olukolu Shina; former Force Public Relations Officer and currently, Commandant, Police Staff College Jos, Awunah Donald.

The list also include the CP, Delta State, Hafiz Inuwa; CP Interpol, Garba  Umar; CP Armament, Omololu Bishi and Isaac Akinmoyede, presently CP Imo State.

The statement read in part, “The 23 Deputy Commissioners of Police promoted to the next rank of Commissioner of Police include, retired DCP Godwin Job; DCP OPS, Kwara, Abimbola Shokoya and DCP Administration, Bauchi, Christopher Owolabi.

“The commission also promoted 599 Superintendents of Police to the next rank of Chief Superintendent of Police. They include;  Etim Inyang, FCT Command, SP Glory Udoka, O/C Gender Unit, State CID, Enugu; Celestina  Kalu, former PPRO, Delta State and currently DPO Ogudu, Lagos State.”

The PSC equally elevated 21 officers who lost their lives during the #EndSARS protests and another 121 officers injured during the crisis.

The PSC Chairman, Musiliu Smith, who presided over the meeting enjoined the beneficiaries to rededicate themselves to the service of their fatherland.

He promised that the commission would continue to ensure that the promotion of deserving police officers “will be prompt and merit-driven.”
