NDLEA has urged parents to check their children’s bags for drug-laced sweets.
Glamtush reports that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has issued a stern warning to parents, urging them to be vigilant about suspicious-looking snacks in their children’s bags and pockets.
In a post shared by the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, cautioned that some recent seizures revealed hard drugs being disguised as everyday treats.
“Narco-trend: Parents, please pay attention to those substances that look like sweet, chocolate, candy, or biscuit in the pockets and bags of your children,” Babafemi wrote.
“They come in colourful & attractive wraps names, but they’re destiny destroyers, as seen in sm latest #ndlea_nigeria seizures.”
The agency says these deceptive drug products were uncovered in some of its latest seizures, reinforcing the urgent need for parental awareness and early intervention.
