Glamtush reports that an alleged international passport of Nigeria’s President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, purportedly issued by the Guinea Conakry government, has gone viral on the micro-blogging site, Twitter.
This online platform understands that David Hundeyin shared the trending photos allegedly showing Bola Tinubu’s Guinea-Conakry passport, sparking controversy around the Nigerian president’s dual citizenship.
This online news platform understands that photos of the alleged Bola Tinubu Guinea Conakry passport were shared on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, on Saturday night, April 15, by Nigerian investigative journalist, activist, and author, David Hundeyin.
The images, which are now trending across various platforms, allegedly showcase the Guinea-Conakry passport of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the 71-year-old veteran Nigerian politician who won the country’s disputed presidential election on February 23.
Sharing the photos on Twitter, Hundeyin captioned: them: “Suprise“. In a follow-up tweet, he wrote: “On Tinubu’s INEC EC9 declaration, he stated that he has not obtained any other citizenship.
“But he has Guinean citizenship, with his Guinean passport stating clearly that he was born in Nigeria – which means he obtained Guinean citizenship. This is perjury. Lying under oath,” he added.
While Glamtush has not yet been able to confirm the authenticity of the now-expired passport, the Nigerian populace has been rife with speculation and criticism.
Many Nigerians have taken to social media to express their disapproval, arguing that holding dual citizenship is a violation of the law for those seeking the presidency.
Meanwhile. Tinubu’s victory in the disputed presidential election has been challenged by his opponents, Obi and Atiku who are pursuing legal action to annul the results.
Though Glamtush could not verify the authenticity of the now-expired Bola Tinubu Guinea passport at the time of filing this report, the Nigerian law states that “Nationals of origin in Nigeria or another country are allowed to naturalise without renouncing other nationality. Members of the government — like the president, governor, or state and national legislators — may not have dual nationality.”
