PDP Crisis: Wike, Makinde, Bode George On Misplaced Mission – Metuh

Metuh has stated that Wike, Makinde and Bode George are on a misplaced mission over the internal PDP crisis.

Glamtush reports that a former PDP national publicity secretary, Olisa Metuh, has said the agitation and move for removal of Ayu Iyorchia, PDP national chairman by Wike, Makinde, Bode George and others are misplaced mission.

This online newspaper understands that Metuh, a member of the PDP’s National Executive Committee, said wike and his camp are engaging in leadership struggle and not representing the interest of the South.

The former publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party said the argument that the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar and the national chairman, Ayu Iyorchia, cannot come from the same North or South was a lie, because, during the time of Yar’Adua’s presidential ambition to his victory, the then national chairman was from the North.

Olisa Metuh who stated this in an interview with a national daily on Friday argued that if Wike, Bode George and others in their camp did not see anything wrong during the time of Yar’Adua how come they are demanding for Ayu’s resignation?

Metuh said, “Whoever is thinking of the control of the party at this stage is on a misplaced mission because it is an attempt to struggle for the leadership of the party.”

He recalled events in 2007 and 2010, “In 2007, the then presidential candidate of the party, Umaru Yar’Adua, ran with a national chairman from the North, Ahmadu Ali, but the South did not make any demand. In 2010, the then acting President, Goodluck Jonathan, had a Board of Trustees chairman from the South, Tony Anenih, and a national chairman from the South, Vincent Ogbulafor. So, what is the problem today?”

He said that while Wike and his camp are important stakeholders in the PDP, they should remember they supervised Ayu’s election as the national chairman of the party and also celebrated him.

“While we acknowledge the fact that these aggrieved party chieftains are very important stakeholders, they supervised the election of Ayu and in fact, celebrated it. Most of them even made the point that Ayu was the best thing to have happened to the PDP.

“What has changed? Is there an agenda they are pursuing? What do they want?”Metuh asked.

“Nobody is saying that what they are demanding is right or wrong. What we need now is a doctrine of necessity to protect and strengthen the PDP for the task ahead,” he added.
