Pastor, 58, Arrested For Defiling 7-Year-Old Girl
The operatives of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), have arrested Pastor Francis Abayomi, 58, for allegedly defiling a 7-year-old girl.
The incident happened on November 25, 2020, at Kutamiti Street off Bashorun Expressway Ibadan, Oyo State, where they reside.
However, the Pastor was arrested on Thursday and charged before the Oyo State Family Court in Ibadan and remanded in Correctional Centre for the alleged offence.
According to NSCDC, Pastor Abayomi lured the victim into his apartment, removed her pant, forcefully penetrated and defiled her.
The dastardly act was later exposed and he was arrested and arraigned in Court for defilement, which attracts life imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court.
While he was being arraigned in Court, the NSCDC alleged that Pastor Abayomi defiled the girl and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 34(1) and punishable under Section 34 (2) of the Oyo State Child Rights Law 2006.
The Magistrate in Charge of Family Court 1, Iyaganku Ibadan, Magistrate S. H Adebisi, ordered him to be remanded in the NSCDC Custody at the State Headquarters, Agodi, Ibadan, without an option of bail until next mentioning of the case.
Magistrate Adebisi however, adjourned the case till January 25 while the matter was referred to the DPP for advice.
The matter may likely be transferred to the Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends for his trial for defilement over jurisdiction.
