Panel Never Declared Lekki Toll Gate Crime Scene – LCC
The Lekki toll gate was never designated a crime scene by the Lagos Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution for Victims of SARS Related Abuses & Lekki Tollgate Incident.
This was disclosed by the Lekki Concession Company (LCC), Mr Yomi Omomuwasan.
Omomuwasan said this at a press conference held in Lagos on Monday just days after a protest was staged at the tollgate against its reopening under the control of the LCC.

The tollgate which had been away from the control of the LCC since the #EndSARS protest of October 2020 was ordered to be reopened under the company’s control by the panel.
Speaking at the press conference, the LCC MD said the tollgate was never shut down, adding that the LCC was only asked to leave the plaza untouched until the completion of a forensic audit instituted by the panel.
Highlights of the conference were shared on Twitter by the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on New Media, Jubril Gawat.

According to Gawat, the LCC MD said if the tollgate where #EndSARS protesters were alleged to have been shot by soldiers of the Nigerian Army was designated a crime scene, it won’t have continued to witness vehicular movements.
Omomuwasan pleaded on behalf of hundreds of the company’s workers, pointing out that they have lots of dependents to take care of and monthly financial obligations to honour.
He sympathised with those who suffered one form of loss or another during the #EndSARS protest of October 2020.

He said, “We appeal once again for a reason to prevail and peace to reign. No litigation lasts forever. Our hearts and prayers are still with all those who suffered one form of loss or the other in the anarchy that gripped our state before and after the October 20 incident.”
