Glamtush reports that Victor Osimhen has been left out of Nigeria’s squad for the doubleheader 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Libya.
This online news platform understands that in the list released on Saturday, Head Coach Augustine Eguavoen omitted Osimhen due to injury concerns but named in-form Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman in the 23-man squad.
The list contains regulars like skipper William Ekong, winger Moses Simon; Alex Iwobi; Stanley Nwabali, Samuel Chukwueze, Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, and Victor Boniface among others.
Defender Bright Osayi-Samuel returns to the side after missing the AFCON qualifiers against the Benin Republic and Rwanda in September.
Playmaker Chidera Ejuke is also returning to the fold after many months.
Nigeria will take on the Mediterranean Knights of Libya in a home-and-away tussle.
The three-time AFCON winners will host Libya at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday, October 11, before heading to Benghazi to take on the Knights at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium on Tuesday, 15th October.
