Oshoala has won the CAF Women’s Player of the year award for the fifth time.
Glamtush reports that Super Falcons striker, Asisat Oshoala has been crowned 2022 CAF women’s Player of the Year.
This online platform understands that the 27-year-old was announced the winner of the award at the gala held in Rabat, Morrocco, on Thursday.
Oshoala, who plays club football for Barcelona, beat Grace Chanda (Zambia/BIIK Kazygurt) and Ajara Nchout Njoya (Cameroon/Inter Milan) to the award.
The win sees her overtake her compatriot Perpetual Nkwocha as the player with the most African Women’s Player of the Year Award.
With this win, she becomes the first player in history to win five African Player of the Year awards.
Oshoala was adjudged the best African female footballer in 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2019.
The 2021-22 campaign can be said to be Oshoala’s best yet as she played a pivotal role in her Spanish side’s treble charge – the Spanish Women’s Super Cup, Copa de la Reina and the Primera Division.
