Olu Jacobs has dementia with Lewy Body, wife reveals.
Glamtush reports that veteran actress, Joke Silva, has spoken out about her husband and fellow actor, Olu Jacobs’ health.
This online platform recalls that the actor has been off the big screen for a while, but he was recently seen in public, looking frail, at the Africa International Film Festival Awards (AFRIFF) in Lagos.
The actress revealed that her husband has been battling Dementia with Lewy Body (DLB) for a couple of years in an interview with Chude Jideonwo aired on Channels Television on Saturday.
“He’s dealing with issues that have been bothering him for a few years.” It’s referred to as Lewy Body Dementia. It is a degenerative brain disease that is similar to Parkinson’s disease in that it affects the brain but does not cause the shaking. “It has an impact on the individual,” she explained.
“It’s the first time I’ve said that publicly,” she added. I knew the time would come when it would have to be revealed.” The veteran actress also discussed the impact her husband’s health issues have had on her and her family.
“It’s been difficult for him and his family because he doesn’t understand what’s going on. We’ve been through it for a couple of years and are grateful to God.
“We have gone through some times and situations recently that I wish I had the old you here so I don’t battle these times on my own but we are grateful for the moment of clarity. I miss the times we worked together,” she added.
At the Africa International Film Festival Awards, held recently in Lagos, the veteran actor was honoured with a lifetime achievement award. Many of his fans congratulated him and expressed concern about his frail appearance after he posted a photo of himself with his award on his Instagram page.
