Ogun Tragedy: Wife Stabs Husband Over Alleged Affair

A wife has stabbed her husband to death over an alleged affair in Ogun.

Glamtush reports that the police in Ogun State have arrested one Iyanu Adedeji for allegedly stabbing her husband, Funsho Jimoh, to death after an argument in the Gbonogun area of Abeokuta, Ogun State.

This online news platform understands that the couple, who were married for 8 years, fought after the wife accused him of having extramarital affairs.

The 22-year-old mother of two, in the process, reportedly stabbed the deceased in the chest with a kitchen knife.

The police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident on Monday, said the suspect, on discovering what she had done, rushed him to the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, where he was confirmed dead.

Odutola disclosed that the suspect reported herself alongside the corpse of her dead husband to the police.

Odutola said, “On December 30, 2024, at about 12:15 PM, one Iyann Adedeji, a 22-year-old female residing at No. 3 Ifelodun Street, Unity Estate, Gbonagun, reported to the police station with a vehicle containing the body of her husband, Azeez Funsho Jimoh, a 28-year-old male who also lived at the same address.

“According to her, the deceased was her husband of eight years, with two children, one of whom is deceased.

“She stated that the deceased accused her of having an extramarital affair, leading to a physical altercation between them that morning.

“During the scuffle, the suspect allegedly inflicted a wound on the deceased’s chest with a domestic knife.”

Odutola noted that she has been arrested, and a preliminary investigation is underway, as the case will soon be transferred to the SCID for a more thorough investigation.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, advised couples to seek peaceful ways of resolving conflicts rather than engaging in fights.
