Obidients Demand Withdrawal Of Gen Enenche From PPC List Over EndSARS Comment

Obidients have demanded the withdrawal of Gen Enenche from the PPC list over his EndSARS comment.

Glamtush reports that there was a social media outcry following the appointment of Major General John Enenche rtd, as a member of Labour Party Peter Obi’s presidential advisory council.

Enenche had claimed photos and videos from the massacre at Lekki Tollgate during the EndSARS protest were photoshopped.

Supporters of Labour Party Presidential candidate, Obi cried over the appointment of Enenche insisting he is not worthy of any position in Obi’s campaign team due to his role in covering up the Lekki massacre in October 2020.

Enenche, a former Director of Information at the Nigerian Defence Headquarters, said the report of soldiers shooting the protesters was mere allegations.

Enenche was among the 1,234 Obi’s campaign team as a representative of the North-Central.

Supporters have been calling for the immediate removal of the former army spokesperson and accused those in his support of being hypocrites.

Expressing their displeasure at the inclusion of the name of Enenche, Professor Abdul Mahmud, Professor of Law, said, “What do we really want in this country? Remove the bad and replace them with the ugly!
How can anybody defend General Enenche who was part of the false narrative of the deep state/military-industrial complex that masked the truth of the #Lekkitollgate massacre?

“It is ridiculous for anybody to claim that he was acting on the command of the military HQ. Where was his conscientious objection?

He added that “I focus on issues and not personalities. I stand with the cores of my beliefs and project them. I’m not in the business of doing propaganda or supporting wrong for a partisan cause. If I support Obi for justice, I’ll stick to justice in pursuit of my support.”

He further argued that Eneche cannot prove he denied the killing of youths at Lekki because he was defence spokesman stating “we had a General Ishola Williams who resigned his military Commission for reason that the 1994 coup of Abacha was immoral.

“How about my good friend, Col Abubakar Umar Dangiwa who 1993 resigned from the Army over the annulment of the June 12 polls.

“These were conscientious objectors. These are the people we seek in the New Nigeria that is possible.”

Prof. Mahmud said, “It is people like General Enenche who’ll stay inside government and lead it on dangerous spins, lies, obfuscation, and utter falsehoods.

“Defend him as you like; his name and infamy are already in history’s judgment-book.”

David Hundeyin, founder of West Africa Weekly, an independent investigative journalist, said “I support Peter Obi because I believe in his mission and candidacy.

“I also believe that anyone directly involved in Lekki Massacre denialism should be drowned in a vat of hydrochloric acid.

“Both of these statements are true at the same time, and I mentioned only one name here.

“Also, I don’t want to hear anything about “compromise” or “realpolitik.”

“If I wanted either of those things, Atiku and Tinubu offer them in vastly greater quantities.

“The entire point of the Peter Obi movement is the rejection of those things. This should be obvious.”

A Twitter user, @Esteembehemoth tweeted “I am of the opinion that Major Gen. John Enenche should be made to either tender a public apology for the role he played during the #EndSars struggle or be forced to resign.

“Anything else other than this is like spitting on the graves of those who lost their lives on 20:10:20.

Another Twitter user, @I_Am_Ilemona “Maj Gen John Enenche (rtd), who appears on the Labour Party PCC as representing the North Central, once called the Lekki Massacre “photoshopped”.

“His appoint, barely 10 days to the 2nd anniversary of the Lekki Massacre, should raise very serious concerns for everyone #EndSARS”

@Fakoyejo_Ola “I was shocked. The appointment only means Peter Obi supports John Enenche’s view on the death of EndSars protesters being photoshopped.”

@Uzochi_O “My own beef with the Peter Obi PCC is the inclusion of Gen. John Enenche (Rtd). Much as his inclusion is strategic and might come with some weight, I won’t forget his role in the #EndSARS massacre. He was the one who said DJ Switch’s IG live was photoshop. I can’t forgive that.”

@Ucijomanta “Gen John Enenche whose name is No18 on this PAC list denied that the #LekkiMassacre at the Tollgate never happened and that all the videos and pictures were photoshopped. Today he’s on the messiah PAC list of the labour Party, you must be an evil person to support Labour on this.”
