NNPCL Stations Increase Petrol Price To N1,030 In Abuja

NNPCL stations have increased the petrol price to N1,030 in Abuja.

Glamtush reports that transportation costs are set to skyrocket in the Federal Capital Territory following the hike in the price of petrol by some stations of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) in Abuja on Wednesday.

This online news platform understands that the stations of the national oil company have raised the retail price of petrol to N1,030 from N897 per litre, across multiple NNPCL stations in the FCT.

The recent development came after the NNPCL decided to terminate its exclusive purchase agreement with Dangote Refinery.

This means the NNPCL will no longer be the sole off-taker, and marketers can now negotiate prices directly with Dangote Refinery.

The new price, the second increase in one month, represents a 14.8 per cent or N133 rise.

At the NNPCL mega station located in Central Area, a customer, who spoke to Punch Online, said the product was sold at N1,030.

The station did not display its prices on either the signboard or the pump meter, leaving customers unaware of the cost of fuel. Instead, the only information they received was through verbal communication from the fuel attendants.

“I am very angry right now. I entered this station thinking their price would be better. It was only after I had wasted time in the queue that I was informed by the fuel attendant that the price had risen to N1,030,” said the customer, who did not give his name.

However, checks by our correspondent at independent marketers’ stations, including Conoil and Total Energies, opposite the NNPCL headquarters, showed the product was sold at N926, but with long queues.
