The Courier Regulatory Department of Nigerian Postal Service on Thursday, September 17, closed two companies allegedly operating courier services without licenses in the country.
According to the Senior Assistant, Post-Master-General of NIPOST, Dr. Simon Emeje, the two illegal operators whuch are based in Lagos were OJ Transports located at Jibowu and Happy Family Motors, Ojuelegba.
He said the shutdown of the courier services was a national assignment and essential for the sanity of the courier sub-sector. Emeje disclosed that the companies have not gone through the Courier Regulatory Department’s, (CRD) licensing process, therefore, their operation is detrimental to the sector. Also, because of the critical nature of the sector to the nation’s economy.
He added that the licensing fee for indigenous courier company was N2million, while multinational lenience is N10 million.
