Nigerian Reggae Music lcon, Majek Fashek Is Dead
Nigeria’s reggae music icon, Majekodunmi Fasheke, popularly known as Majek Fashek, is dead.
The death of the music legend was announced by his manager, Umenka Uzoma.
He wrote:
“Today been having pressure calls, well it is true that the African No 1 Legendary ICON has gone to be with the LORD his Maker.”
“Let celebrate him, his achievements, and his family, whatever decisions made by his immediate family will be notified.”
Majek had been plagued by a mysterious illness for years now which affected his music career greatly.
Majek was born in Benin-City, Edo state, and died at the age of 57.
According to reports, the “Send Down the Rain” crooner, died in a hospital in New York on Monday June 1.
Until his death, he was one of Nigeria’s surviving Reggae music legends. Majek attracted international attention in 1987, with his self-penned tune, ‘Send down the Rain.’
The singer also played a supporting role in the 2000 Nollywood movie ‘Mark of the Beast’.
