Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers:

1. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed November 11, 2023, for the conduct of Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi governorship elections. National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, of INEC, Festus Okoye, disclosed this on Tuesday evening.

2. The Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Organisation, yesterday, appealed to Nigerians to reject those who are planning to rule the country by proxy, saying that Nigerians can no longer tolerate turning governance into family and friends business. This was in reaction to the challenge thrown to the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi by Festus Keyamo for his son to organise a campaign rally in Anambra like Seyi Tinubu, APC flagbearer’s son, did for his father.

3. Following heavy bombardments by security operatives in the North East and North West, some insurgents have relocated to the nation’s capital where they disguise themselves as menial workers. A security source disclosed this yesterday while reacting to the security advisory by the US Mission in Nigeria.

4. Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has said the worst is over as far as insecurity is concerned, insisting that the military and other security agencies were up to the task of protecting Nigerians and non-citizens. Mohammed stated this at a Ministerial Session at the ongoing UNESCO Global Media and Information Literacy Week.

5. There was panic at Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos State, on Tuesday, when masked gunmen reportedly abducted a yet-to-be-identified motorist. According to eyewitnesses who narrated the incident on Twitter, the man was forced out of a black Toyota Corolla, which he was driving on Medical Road in the area.

6. The new British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, has promised to place economic stability and confidence at the heart of his government’s agenda. The 42-year-old of Indian ancestry was on Tuesday appointed PM by King Charles III after their meeting at Buckingham Palace.

7. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has vowed to resign from office if anyone could prove he promised to make him his successor. He said by virtue of his character, it was inconceivable that he would make a promise to help someone to succeed him and then renege on it.

8. There is palpable anxiety in the Niger Delta region over the decision of the Federal Government to shut the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP). PAP was introduced in 2009 as part of the conditions reached between the Federal Government and ex-militants who surrendered their weapons to embrace the amnesty offered by the late President Umaru Musa YarAdua.

9. Presidential Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu has described the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki as a nitwit and a misfit for the office he currently occupies. Tinubu was reacting to comments by Obaseki that Nigeria would break up should the APC win the next presidential election.

10. Ahead of the 2023 elections, a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has nullified all primary elections conducted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State over the unlawful exclusion of some party members as delegates to the primaries.
