1. The National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has called off its nationwide strike. The decision followed an emergency meeting with the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, on Wednesday.

2. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that, contrary to reports in the media, there was no plan to remove the National Chairman of the party, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu. In a statement issued Wednesday, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Felix Morka, said the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party stands united under Adamu’s leadership as National Chairman with the singular commitment to winning the next general election.

3. The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday, visited the Penthouse residence of former President Olusegun Obasanjo at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta. Tinubu visited Obasanjo in company of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbaajabiamila, Chief Bisi Akande and Nuhu Ribadu.

4. The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, has said there is no rift between him and the former Governor of Kano, Ibrahim Shekarau. Kwankwaso, who said this in an interview with the BBC Hausa Service, said the reports going on that there is a problem with Ibrahim Shekarau are not true and are rumours by mischief makers for the reasons known to them.

5. Factional Secretary-General of the apex Igbo socio-political organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, has disagreed with the spokesman of the Igbo body, Chief Alex Ogbonna, on the case involving Sena tor Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice. In a counter statement on Wednesday, Isiguzoro urged the Federal Government not to interfere.

6. At least six farmers were abducted in Mafa, a town in Borno State, Northeast Nigeria, by fighters suspected to be members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), on Wednesday. An Intelligence Officer told Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency expert and Security Analyst in Lake Chad, that the victims who were mostly displaced persons, went missing after they went to their farm at Bulagarji village, located some kilometres away from Mafa town.

7. The President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, Wednesday, stated that Nigerian students should not vote for politicians who have their children studying in institutions outside the country. Osodeke was speaking on a Twitter Space Webinar, organized by Premium Times and tagged, ‘ASUU strike, Revitalisation Fund and the Way Forward.’

8. Ondo State Government has promised to reward anyone willing to expose the identity of kidnappers and other criminals in the State as part of its efforts to combat insecurity, with N50,000. The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs. Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, disclosed this on Wednesday after the weekly State Executive Council meeting at the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, Akure.

9. The Lagos State Police Command has announced that the State was under a partial lockdown by security agencies. The State’s Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, who made the disclosure during the Lagos State Stakeholders’ Forum on Police Accountability (SFPA) quarterly meeting, said surveillance has been raised due to the threat of attacks.

10. The All Progressives Congress, APC, Osun State chapter, has frowned at the series of threats by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to stop the forthcoming local government in the State. The State Chairman of the APC, Prince Gboyega Famodun, in a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Kola Olabisi, in Osogbo on Tuesday, condemned the State caretaker chairman of the PDP, Akindele Adekunle, who described the local government election fixed for October 15 as illegal.
