1. President Muhammadu Buhari, on Sunday night, summoned a meeting of key stakeholders in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the party’s presidential primary election commencing today. The outcome of the meeting is still unknown.

2. It was a black Sunday yesterday as gunmen suspected to be terrorists stormed St. Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, Owo in Ondo State and opened fire on unarmed worshipers. Several persons died during the incident, while many others were seriously injured.

3. The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has condemned what it called an unprovoked attack and the killing of several innocent worshippers on Sunday at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, Owo. The CAN President, Dr Samson Ayokunle, on Sunday in a statement urged the security agencies to immediately apprehend the perpetrators of the dastardly criminality.

4. Many people were feared killed and several houses razed during a renewed Bassa-Igburra crisis in Bassa Local Government Area of Kogi State on Sunday. The two ethnic groups have been at loggerheads for a long time over fish ponds and land ownership.

5. At least 120 people have been hospitalized after suspected toxic chemicals from an expired industrial gas cylinder contaminated the air and spread to the neighborhood of Mundadu, a suburb of Kano. Locals said the incident occurred Friday evening where one Saifullahi gathered scrap metals and crushed them for recycling.

6. Chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Benue State, Sir John Ngbede, has emerged as the deputy governorship candidate of the party for the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the State.

7. With about 72 hours to the time limit the Federal Government gave the Prof. Nimi Briggs Committee to conclude negotiation with the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, there are indications that the union may make some concessions in its demands from the government.

8. As an aftermath of the abduction of the Prelate of the Methodist Church, Samuel Kanu Uche, at Umunneochi council area of Abia state, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has ordered herders and other people residing in the forest in the area to vacate. He also directed that cows and herders operating in the area be restricted.

9. Hundreds of landlords and residents have been rendered homeless after officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Urban Development, alongside security agents and hoodlums, demolished about 200 buildings at Oke-Ira community, in the Igbogbo Bayeku Local Council Development Area of the State. During the 10-hour demolition exercise, three landlords reportedly died from shock.

10. The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two suspected armed robbers, Mustapha Mohammed and Abdullahi Buba, during an operation on Apongbon Bridge, in the Ebute-Ero area of the State. A statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the suspects were arrested around 2.15am.
