Nigeria has imposed $220m fine on Meta for violating the consumer and data laws.
Glamtush reports that the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission on Friday imposed a $220m fine on Meta platforms for violating data privacy laws.
This online news platform learnt that the FCCPC said in a statement that Meta’s data-sharing practices on its Facebook and WhatsApp platforms breached local consumer and data protection regulations.
The commission found that Meta had denied Nigerian users control over their data, shared data without consent and abused its market dominance.
