The Niger Delta Avengers in the early hours of today, Wednesday, June 1, blew up two vital Chevron oil wells, RMP 23 and RMP in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State.
They broke through the heavy military presence in the Niger Delta region.
“With the heavy presence of 100 Gunboats, 4 Warships and Jet Bombers NDA blew up Chevron Oil Well RMP 23 and RMP 24 3:44am this Morning.
“This is to show the whole world that Nigeria Military is good in harassing innocent Civilians. RMP 24 and RMP 23 are Chevron Swamp Highest producing Wells. #Boom,” the militants tweeted.
It was gathered that Chevron noticed the incident at about 4am following a drop in pressure during production. The wells have been shut down.
A team of engineers had been sent to assess the damage and to stop further spread of the spill.
