Mob Lynch Suspected Motorcycle Thief In Niger

An angry mob lynched a suspected motorcycle thief terrorizing Dutsen Kura Gwari in Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State.

The suspect was said to have dispossessed a yet-to-be-identified motorcyclist of his motorcycle in Dutsen Kura Gwari area and bolted away.

The mob quickly mobilized and pursued the suspect until they caught up with him before beating him to a pulp.

It was gathered that police received a distress call of mob action against an unknown person at Dutsen Kura Gwari area and on getting to the scene of the incident, the mob sighted them and took to their heels for fear of being arrested.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident, saying the operatives rushed the suspect to General Hospital, Minna, where he was confirmed dead.

Abiodun said further investigation into the incident was on going with a view to arresting the perpetrators.

He, however, admonished members of the public to desist from any act of jungle justice as the Command would not condone a self-help approach to justice.
