Mob Kills Policeman, Two Others Injured

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, has said a policeman has been killed and two others injured in the Ijegun incident.
 
According to the spokesperson of the command, one ASP and two Police Officers were injured in Lagos and the Commissioner of Police has ordered for investigation and condole with the family of the woman hit by a stray bullet. 
 
“A team of Policemen from the Anti kidnapping Unit attached to Area M Command Idimu tracked some kidnapping suspects to Ijegun-Isolo road, Ijegun bus stop but came under attack by members of the deadly gang. 
 
The operatives reportedly opened fire on the suspect and one of the bullets hit Biliki, who was in her shop.
 
“The woman was rushed to hospital where she later died. We have taken one of the men. He has been beaten and we want you to come down to see things for yourself,” a resident said.
 
Oriental News learned that the mobbed policeman had been taken to the palace of the traditional ruler in Ijegun, where a crowd of angry youths has requested to lynch him.
 
Biliki, a tailor, was reported to be pregnant when she was killed.
 
A stray bullet hit one Busayo Owoodun ‘female’. The gang with the support of some notorious cultists in the area attacked the Police team and injured the team leader, ASP Victor Ugbegun and two others who are currently in critical condition at the intensive care unit.
 
Reinforcements from the Operations Department, Rapid Response Squads, Task Force, and neighbouring Divisions were able to contain the situation and evacuate the injured Officers to Hospital. 
 
“The Command has launched a manhunt of the assailants with a view of bringing them to justice. The corpses of the victim of the stray bullet was taken to hospital for autopsy” Elkana stated.
 
In addition, Elkana stated that the Commissioner of Police, (CP) Zubairu Muazu has ordered an in-depth investigation into the case. While Condoling with the family of the deceased person, the Command calls for calm and assured her family and friends that justice will prevail.
