Miss District of Columbia, Deshauna Barber, 26, beat 52 other contestants at the 2016 Miss USA pageant which held on Sunday, June 5 in Las Vegas.
Miss Hawaii, Chelsea Hardin, 24, came in as the first runner-up, and Miss Georgia, Emanii Davis, 22, was the second runner-up.
Barber is a logistics commander for the U.S. Army and an IT analyst for the U.S. Department of Commerce who wants to focus her platform on PTSD treatment for soldiers returning from deployments.
Barber inherited the crown from 2015 winner Miss Oklahoma, Olivia Jordan.
