Why You Should Fold And Not Scrunch Your Sleeves

Folding your sleeves offers a more polished, comfortable, and versatile look compared to scrunching.

It’s a simple yet effective way to enhance your appearance and maintain a professional image in various settings.

Sometimes, you want to look more casual, relaxed and comfortable in your long sleeve shirt after a day’s work or simply because the weather is extremely hot. When this happens, many men hurriedly roll up their sleeves, hence, scrunching it up.

Well, this will not make you look stylish but shabby. For a stylish look, you should carefully roll up your sleeves, so that you don’t scrunch it up. Folding your sleeves carefully, minimise scrunching.

So, begin by carefully folding your cuff back at the seam, laying it flat all the way around your sleeve. Continue to roll back evenly, using the cuff’s width as a guide, until you reach your desired length. Also, if you decide to layer your shirt under a jacket, fold your cuff back at the seam, then fold the new double layered cuff in half. Roll that band of fabric once or twice more, stopping just before the elbow.

Folding your sleeves rather than scrunching them offers several benefits in terms of aesthetics, comfort, and practicality:

  1. Neat Appearance: Folding your sleeves provides a cleaner and more polished look compared to scrunching. It gives a deliberate, intentional appearance rather than appearing unkempt.
  2. Better Fit: Folding allows you to adjust the length of your sleeves more precisely. You can fold them to the desired length, ensuring they stay in place throughout the day without constant readjustment.
  3. Comfort: Neatly folded sleeves tend to be more comfortable than scrunching, which can create uneven pressure points or bunching that may become uncomfortable over time, especially if you are wearing a long-sleeved shirt for an extended period.
  4. Professionalism: In professional settings, neatly folded sleeves are generally more acceptable and can help you maintain a polished appearance, especially in environments where appearance matters, such as client meetings or formal events.
  5. Versatility: Depending on the occasion, you can adjust the length of the fold to suit your style preferences or the formality of the situation. This flexibility allows you to adapt your look effortlessly.
  6. Durability: Folding your sleeves tends to preserve the fabric better over time compared to scrunching, which can cause creases and wrinkles that may be difficult to remove, particularly if the fabric is prone to wrinkling.

In summary, whether it is because of the hot weather or simply a question of what you want, simply roll up your sleeve and don’t scrunch them.
