An Upper Area Court sitting in Kasuwan Nama in Jos on Thursday, sentenced a mechanic, Daniel Isaac, to six months imprisonment for stealing auto parts from a Seminary.
The Judge, Lawal Suleiman, who sentenced Isaac after he pleaded guilty to the offence of trespass and stealing, however, gave him an option of fine.
“He is to pay N20,000 or spend six months in jail. This judgment should serve as a deterrent to those who would want to indulge in the act of stealing, ” said the judge.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Ibrahim Gukwat, told the court that the case was reported at Laranto Police station on Aug.5, by Emmaunuel David of St. Augustine Major Seminary Jos, who was the complainant.
Gukwat said that the accused trespassed into the seminary and stole some auto parts from the school store.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 334 and 272 of the Penal Code Law.
