Man Flees After Killing Girlfriend For Suspected Ritual

A man has fled after killing his girlfriend for suspected ritual.

Glamtush reports that the Edo State Police Command says it is in search of a man said to have killed his 29-year-old girlfriend in Iguadolo community for suspected ritual.

This online platform learnt that in a statement on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Kontongs Bello, identified the suspect as Osas and the victim as Elohor Oniorosa.

According to him, Elohor’s father, Williams, lodged a complaint on Friday last week at the Ogida Divisional Police Headquarters that his daughter has been murdered.

In his statement, Williams said Osas whom he confirmed to be his daughter’s boyfriend and residing in the same community called her on Christmas eve that he was sick and his daughter left for his house.

Having anticipated her return till evening and she didn’t show up, the father called her phone but it was switched off.

On that note, he decided to go to the boyfriend’s house where he met the landlord and informed him why he was there.

Bello narrated that the landlord directed Williams to Osas apartment where they both forced the door open and saw the body of poor Elohor lying in the pool of her blood.

“Following the report, police operatives were immediately mobilised to the scene, where they met the young woman lying in the pool of her blood, and a cutlass with blood stain close to her,” he said.

“On close observation, there was a deep machete cut on her neck, a photograph was taken, and the corpse has been moved to Central Hospital Mortuary, Benin City for preservation.”

The said Osas, according to the command’s spokesman, has since fled the scene after committing the crime and an investigation is ongoing to ensure the suspect is arrested.

“To this end the CP, Edo State Police Command, CP Philip Aliyu Ogbadu PSC (+), while sympathising with the family of the deceased victim, assures them that the police will do everything possible to ensure the victim is brought to book and face the consequence of his devilish act,” he said.
