Telemundo channels on DStv and Gotv will be premiering, the spellbinding and romantic comedy telenovela, Maid in Manhattan (Una Maid en Manhattan) in November.
Maid in Manhattan tells the story of Marisa Luján (Litzy Domínguez), a young Mexican woman who manages a small hotel in a village in Michoacan. Before the events shown in the drama, she falls in love with Victor, an American man who visits Michoacán every year for the Christmas holidays. She becomes pregnant with Victor’s child.
When the town of Michoacán becomes a centre for drug trafficking. And Miguelito, an old friend of Marisa’s who now heads a powerful cartel buys Marisa’s hotel and turns it into a headquarters for drug deals and murder, she decided to migrate to the United States with her 10 year-old son, Lalo to marry Victor, that way, she can obtain legal documents to enable her live and work in the United States.
In Los Angeles, Marisa and Victor are married, but things quickly end when Marisa catches Victor cheating with another woman on their wedding day. She quickly decides to move to New York, where her childhood friend Belinda (Maite Embil) offers help. And thanks to Belinda’s good word, Marisa finds employment as a maid in one of the most prestigious and luxurious hotels in Manhattan and, through good work, she begins to gain the trust and respect of the hotel manager. When she was awarded ‘Employee of the Month’ consecutively, her maid friends encouraged and convinced her to apply for the open position of assistant manager.
Her aspirations for advancement are complicated by a mix-up involving Christopher Parker (Eugenio Siller) the son of a senator, a young wealthy and successful businessman, who is staying at the hotel. Christopher Parker follows Lalo into the premier suite only to find Marisa dressed in a rich guest’s glamorous clothes mistaking her for a guest of the hotel. After a walk in Central Park, he begins to fall in love with Marisa. She, in turn, feels for him what she had convinced herself was not possible after what she went through with Victor.
Then there is Sara (Vanessa Villela), another hotel guest who is obsessed with fashion, hates Marisa and will do anything to prevent Christopher Parker and Marisa from having a relationship.
In the midst of deception, betrayal, conspiracy and difference in backgrounds, will Chris and Marisa eventually become happy together in their relationship?
The melodrama features Litzy Domínguez as Marisa Luján Villa, Eugenio Siller as Cristóbal Parker Salas and Vanessa Villela played the role of Sara Montero.
Maid in Manhattan is a Spanish-language telenovela produced by United States-based television network Telemundo Studios, Miami. It is based on Columbia Pictures’ 2002 movie, Maid In Manhattan, featuring Jennifer Lopez and Ralph Fiennes.
Maid in Manhattan begins to air on Monday, November 7 at 4:20. It replaces the series, If Only I were You.
