Lovers Commit Suicide Due To Osu Caste System In Anambra

Lovers who resided in Okija, Anambra State decided to end it all because they could not live without each other because of the Osu caste system according to the suicide note they left behind.

They said forbidding them to marry after 6 years of dating is racism and asked why they should be made to suffer for something they know nothing about.
The suicide note reads:
“Racism in disguise

How can we separate after 6 solid years of dating and getting too use to each other?how???

Is it a crime to be held from Okija,Anambra state`?we are both from Okija in Ihiala local govt area of Anambra state,Nigeria.

We had already wanted to spend the our lives together,we have already planned our future together, now that thins are gradually turning around for us,they are saying we cant get married all because of osu and osu caste system, all because of an ancient belief that has been abolished in other villages. The people of okija chose to live in the past, all because of ignorance of our God created everyone equally so why would human beings discriminate just because of the ignorance of our forefathers.why do we keep suffering in silence for what we know nothing about, for something we didnt do?why do we choose to still stay in the dark?this is racism in disguise yet we want to be treated equally in the white mans land, charity they said begins at home.

We made up our minds to end it all because so we cant stay without each other
Ndi Okija say no to osu caste!!!”
