How To Look Good At The Gym

Some claim that exercising in the gym only serves to make you look good out of the gym. And that isn’t that far from the truth. Even though the gym is there to help you become fit and healthy first, that doesn’t mean that you should wear whatever you find first in your wardrobe, though.

Instead, you should aim for looking stunning while working out, which isn’t so easy. Considering that gyms became social spaces, it’s time to think about what to wear for the occasion.

The makeup question

Should you or should you not wear makeup in the gym? It would be best if you could refrain from putting on makeup before going to the gym. Sweating will destroy it and you could find yourself in a situation where you have to clean it off your face there, in the gym, which is a mess on its own. Mixing sweat and cosmetics is never a good idea due to various toxins. On top of that, you are clogging your pores that are there to expel sweat. But if you really love wearing makeup, choose waterproof makeup to avoid smudging and looking awful after the workout. Just remember to find decent waterproof makeup that your skin is not sensitive to.

What to wear?

It is important that you pick clothes suitable for your figure. Don’t try to fit into something that’s obviously not for you. Find clothes that flatter your natural figure. A curvy person might want to wear figure hugging clothes to accentuate their natural curves. A thin person can go for a bare midriff to show off their abs. Decent leggings go a long way for all of you who like squatting, since they really show off those curves. If you really want to show how stunning your figure is, opt for some compression clothing. Just remember that your top or bottom or your accessories should complement your skin tone. Warmer colors such as orange should be avoided for cool skin tones, while colors such as royal blue should be avoided for warm skin tones.

The essential sports bra

Wearing a good sports bra is imperative to your workout. Your bra needs to be comfortable, firm and if you raise your arms it should make sure that no flesh escapes underneath. Coverage of the sides of the breast tissue is very important to reduce movement sideways and prevent sagging. Imagine doing jumping jacks in a bad bra, that would be horrible. You need to feel good and comfortable during your workout. Thinking about wardrobe malfunctions only moves your focus away from exercising.

Say no to moisturizers

When you work out, you sweat a lot. The sweat comes out through the pores on your body and face. That’s why you have to pay attention not to clog them. Avoid using moisturizers when you wash your face before the workout, since it can make a mess on your skin. Moisturizer can mix with your oil and perspiration, which will clog your pores. Skin care is quite delicate so you should really take good care.

What about sweat?

Bringing a towel with you is a must. This especially applies to those days when you have high intensity workouts. Bring a towel with you to blot away perspiration and keep yourself looking fresh. You can also use sweat-absorbing accessories. Headbands, wristbands and bandanas help keep perspiration levels manageable and they also keep you look good while working out.

The red face issue

For all of you out there who don’t like to look like they’ve been sunburnt, a small dose of antihistamine goes a long way. If your face turns red while working out and you’re conscious about it, you can turn to this solution. In order to get the most out of your gym experience, you have to feel confident. If you don’t like the fact that your face becomes red while working out, you should do something about it.
