Longest Running Entertainment Show Receives Guinness World Records Certificate

Multi-platform news brand Entertainment Tonight (ET) which started the year by airing its 10,000th show on Friday, January 10 has received an official Guinness World Records certificate for their record title, presented by adjudicator Kim Partrick.

The show which has nearly 5 million viewers daily has made history for becoming the world’s longest-running entertainment news TV show, consequently, received the certificate to mark its incredible achievement of being on air for 38 years and 118 days.

Entertainment Tonight, the four-time Emmy award-winning show which premiered on September 14, 1981, has remained the gold standard of entertainment news, covering the biggest celebrity events from Hollywood and around the world.

A key part of this landmark episode featured the brand’s distinguished history by decade to illustrate the evolution that made ET as the number 1 source of celebrity news for nearly 40 years.

Also, as part of this special episode, ET celebrated rock singer and songwriter, Rod Stewart’s 75th birthday from London with an exclusive at-home performance and a special announcement from the legendary singer.

The segment also featured an exclusive interview with American media executive, talk show host, and philanthropist, Oprah Winfrey to look back at her time with ET since her first interview in 1985.
