According to an Abuja-based physician, Dr Olu Emmanuel, long abstinence from sex do not have any adverse effect on human health.
He said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja today, Wednesday, April 13.
He said that it had not been scientifically proven that long abstinence from sex could cause harm to human’s health.
The medical practitioner added that abstinence was healthy depending on the circumstances surrounding it.
“There are many reasons why people abstain from sex such as health challenges among others.
“Abstinence may be voluntary due to religious, moral, philosophical and involuntary as a result of social circumstances.
“You are not going to die from abstinence nor will it lead directly to conditions such as heart disease, among others.
“It does not physically damage an individual, it is not also a health crisis if you don’t have sex,’’ he said.
Besides, he said that no studies have linked long abstinence from sex to poor overall health.
