Legendary Nollywood actor Fabian Adibe is dead.
Glamtush reports that veteran Nollywood actor Fabian has passed away.
The legendary ‘Things Fall Apart’ actor who played the unforgettable role of Ogbuefi Uzowulu in the timeless TV adaptation of “Things Fall Apart,” passed away at the age of 81.
The news of his death was confirmed on Wednesday, August 20, by journalist and film producer, Seun Oloketuyi, who shared the development in a heartfelt social media post.
He wrote, “Things Fall Apart actor, Fabian Adibe, is dead. Died 2:30 am this morning,” Oloketuyi wrote.
Born in 1943, Adibe had a rich and meaningful career that extended far beyond the screen. In 1965, he proudly represented Nigeria at the first Commonwealth Art Festival, setting the stage for a lifelong dedication to the arts.
However, it wasn’t until 1987 that he made his on-screen debut in Things Fall Apart, the acclaimed television series adapted from Chinua Achebe’s novel.
Sharing the screen with Pete Edochie, Adibe delivered a powerful performance that resonated with audiences across generations.
His calm presence, commanding voice, and dignified interpretation of complex characters made him a staple of early Nigerian television drama.
He celebrated his 81st birthday in December 2024, just months before his passing.
According to reports, he died peacefully around 2:30 am, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire actors and viewers alike.
The loss of Fabian Adibe is deeply felt across the entertainment industry and beyond. He was not only an actor but also a cultural ambassador who played a vital role in shaping the identity of Nollywood.
