Lagos State Police Arrest, Parade Various Suspected Criminals

The Lagos State Police Command on Monday paraded suspected armed criminals arrested at different locations in the state at the Command’s premises in Ikeja.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edgal Imohimi, said, “On Friday, May 25, at about 1645hrs, based on a tip-off, a team of policemen attached to Ilemba-Hausa Division, arrested one Jude Nnakire, male, aged 34yrs of Bemigo Street, Shibiri, Ajangbadi, while taking two sisters, namely, Deborah Otim, aged 20yrs and Gift Otim, 17years to an unknown destination. The victims are of No. 26, Obudu Road, Ikom Cross-River State.

The victims were allegedly brought to Lagos by one Emeka, other names not yet known, under the pretense of getting them a job and without the consent of their parents. The victims are right now in protective custody while effort is on to locate their biological parents.

Furthermore, on Wednesday, May, 23 information was received that Regina Ibeto, 50 years of age, of No. 96, Bunmi Ajakaye Street, Ajangbadi, use to induce pregnant women and when they eventually give birth, she sells off the newly born babies.

On the strength of the information, the DPO, Ajangbadi Division, led operatives to the compound where the said Regina was found administering intravenous injection (drip) to one Uju Nnamdi of No. 22, Imude Road who claimed to be sick and five months pregnant. When search was conducted, a set of drip-water bags and other related drugs were recovered.

On interrogation, Regina confessed that she is not a medical doctor but a traditional birth attendant. She stated that on the 18/05/2018, one Bukky whose surname is yet unknown, about 17 years old was induced and she delivered a baby boy and she sold the baby to Udoju Chukwunoye, 45 years of No. 83, Ojo-Igbede Road for two hundred and fifty thousand Naira(N250,000).

The said Uju was arrested, the baby retrieved and taken to the hospital while Bukky the said mother of the baby is being trailed for possible arrest. Meanwhile, investigation is ongoing.

“Just yesterday at about 2000hrs an NGO based in Lagos informed the police about the illegal activities of an unregistered NGO that operates as a body that helps people with debilitating illnesses to raise fund for their treatment. Based on the report, police detectives attached to Ilemba Hausa Division swung into action. They found one Jacob Monday of Obi Local Government Area, Benue State, who reported that the so called NGO brought him to Lagos under the pretense that they will assist him in raising money to tackle his health challenge, which is to help him procure a hernia operation but ended up putting him on the streets of Lagos to beg for money for the past three months. The worst is that all the money realized from the begging activity was given to the group leaders, one Paul Samuel and Jacob Ogochukwu whose addresses are yet unknown but said to be lodging in hotels in the area,” he added.

Mr. Edgal added that the painstaking search for the group heads led to the arrest of one of the leaders, Paul Samuel and other associates, as they were identified by the victim as members of the fake NGO. Suspects confessed that they are working for the aforementioned Paul Samuel and Jacob Ugochukwu. The latter is currently at large but be rest assured that they would be arrested to face the law. Meanwhile, those so far in our net will be charged to court as soon as investigation into the case is over.

The command considers the arrests of this set of armed bandits as another dividend of community policing and community safety partnership.

“On the 22/05/2018, at about 0620hrs based on reliable information, my officers from Ajeromi, police station, Ajegunle, in conjunction with FSARS operatives, intercepted one Chinonso Uzor of No. 5, Ikogbe Street, Amukoko. The suspect was interrogated and he confessed to belong to a robbery gang terrorizing Ajegunle and environs. During execution of search warrant at his criminal abode at Akpa Street, Layinka, Ajegunle, one locally made pistol with one live cartridge was recovered in the ceiling where it was carefully concealed.”

On the 24/05/2018 at about 0035 hours, a distress call was received from Wellwood Hotel Ajangbadi. The Duty officer that Night at Ilemba Hausa Division, quickly went to the Hotel where he met one Faith Nol, 18 years, a commercial sex worker. He found her with severe injuries on her neck.

The victim stated that on same date at about 0015 hours, Chizoba Ayogu, 26 years of no. 7, Abdullahi Street, Kirikiri, Apapa Lagos, came to her hotel room. After sleeping with her, he brought out a rope, tied it around her neck and pulled her down. He also tried to suffocate her by blocking her mouth and nostrils with a pillow. She was however, rescued by a staff of the hotel who heard noise in her room as she struggled for life.

This suspect was arrested and the rope with which he nearly killed the girl was recovered from him. This suspect is yet to tell the police his motive for wanting to murder the victim.

On the 05/05/2018, at about 1430 hours, one miss Precious 28 years, (other names withheld) who resides in Enugu State reported to the Police at Ilemba Hausa Ajangbadi that some time last year, she met one Ekene Onyetube, 25 years of No. 3, Sound Foundation, Ilogbo Road, Ajangbadi on Facebook.

The said Ekene invited her to Lagos on the 03/05/2018. On arrival, he took her to De-Didos Hotel Shibiri where he allegedly drugged and raped her. The suspect was said to have made away with one Infinix Note 3 phone, one Nokia touch phone, one voter’s card and disappeared ever since.

Based on this development, detectives investigating case tapped into our robust partnership with community members and Hoteliers in the area. They circulated the suspect’s details to Hotels in the area and to all nooks and crannies of Ajangbadi.

This paid off on 25/05/2018 when the suspect went to one of the hotels to lodge and he was promptly arrested by the operatives of the Command. During interrogation, the suspect confessed he hooked up the victim on HITWE(A social media platform).

At the conclusion of investigation action, the suspect would be charged to court. This warning goes to the youths. They should be mindful of whom they interact with on the social media. The youths should be wary of those luring them with promises of gift and better life and must always seek the advice of their parents at all times about people making promises to them.

On the 24/05/2018, at about 0130 hours, information was received that thieves entered a Warehouse located at Abule-Taylor by ‘U-Turn’ Bus Stop, Abule, Ogba, Lagos.

Based on the information, the DPO, Oko-Oba Police Station led a team of policemen to the scene where the following persons were caught stealing goods from the Warehouse:

Recovered from them are seventy (70) cartons of Sola Volt Street Lights and their operational vehicle, a Mazda Pick-up van with Reg. No. LND-98-XA.

This case was reported to the police by a faith base organization against one Godwin Udo Akpan, 51yrs old of Modupe Street, off Balogun Stret, Ikeja. The suspect was alleged to be abusing his own daughter, one Mary Udo Akpan, 6yrs old by fingering her private parts. The Gender Section of the Command from their preliminary investigation found out that the suspect brought the survivor to Lagos from Ikot Ekpene in Akwa Ibom State where she was living with her mother sometime in January 2018. The suspect normally keeps the child with one Mama Winner of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) anytime he is going to work.

However, on the 23/05/2018 when the suspect came to pick his daughter, the little girl refused to follow him. When asked why she doesn’t want to follow her father, she narrated the sexual ordeal she is going through in the hands of her father. The mother of the child is in Ikot-Ekpene where she works as a farmer. He blamed the devil for his deeds.

Within the week under review, based on credible information from members of the public on activities of dreaded cultists, the Anti-Cultism Unit of the Command arrested 39 suspected cultists from various locations viz: Solomade, Ebute-Iga, Ikorodu, Orile-Iganmu, Sangotedo, Oworonshoki, Alagbado, Ayobo and Amjeh areas of Lagos State.
In a related development, one Victor Achidume, 43yrs a suspected cultists/ritualist lured some youths ages between 11 to 15 years to his house after a football game, and shaved their armpit and pubic hair ostensibly for ritual purposes and thereafter gave them between N100 and N 200 only. Suspect has been arrested and investigation is ongoing.

On 16/01/2018, a case of conspiracy, stealing and unlawful conversion of one Toyota Camry Car with Reg. No. BDG-56-DX valued at one million four hundred thousand Naira only (N1,400,000) was reported stolen, a team of F-SARS operatives led by Inspr. Emmanuel Onu swung into action and the said Toyota Camry Car was recovered and the suspect, Kazeem Sanusi was arrested. It is worthy of note that suspect confessed he sold the car to his younger brother, one Kabiru Sanusi at the sum of six hundred thousand Naira only (N600,000).

On the 26th day of May, 2018 at about 1230 hours, a Police team patrolling Orile bus-stop through Okirika, Orile Iganmu axis interrogated a young man by name Agboluwaje Adedeji of Abisoye Irepodun Close, Orile, Sari Iganmu. He had a bag with him. The bag was searched and complete Army uniform and assorted charms were recovered from him.

On the 30th day of January,2018 a report was received from a complainant that his Samsung galaxy mega phone 8x was stolen from him when his house at Ajegunle Olodi Apapa area was broken into on the 25/05/18 at about 1730hrs.

Based on his complaint, operatives of the FSARS Ikeja, carried out diligent investigation leading to the arrest of one Ejima Enebeli ‘m’ from whom the stolen was recovered.
