Lagos has set a new record in its COVID-19 statistics, reporting 1,040 cases on Saturday according to data gathered by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
It was the highest daily count ever posted by the state that has been the epicentre of the pandemic since February 2020.
In a late-night tweet, the NCDC put the total number of new cases recorded nationwide at 1,883 with one additional death from Ogun state, which took its toll to 43.
To date, the country has recorded 130,557 cases across its 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Of those confirmed cases, 103,712 have been discharged and 1,578 have resulted in deaths.
