Kidnappers have demanded a ₦20m ransom for the kidnapped Nigerian female footballer Ihotu John Rebecca.
Glamtush reports that the family of Nigerian footballer, Ihotu John Rebecca, has appealed for public support following her abduction along the Benin Expressway.
Rebecca, who features for Pacesetter Queens FC in the Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership, was reportedly kidnapped on Friday, February 27, while travelling home along the Benin Expressway.
According to emerging reports, her abductors have demanded a ransom of ₦20 million for her release.
Rebecca is known for competing at the top tier of women’s domestic football in Nigeria, making her abduction particularly distressing within the sporting community.
Her family has called on football stakeholders, club executives, sponsors, government officials, sports administrators, and well-meaning Nigerians to assist in securing her safe return.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the incident, as concerns grow over security along major highways.
