Kaduna Govt Takes Man Locked Up For 20 Years To Psychiatric Hospital

Kaduna govt has taken the man locked up for 20 years to a psychiatric hospital.

Glamtush reports that Ibrahim Ado, a 67-year-old man who was locked up for over 20 years in Kaduna State, has been handed over by the state government to the National Psychiatric Hospital Barnawa, for more medical attention.

This online platform recalls that Ado was found naked, locked in a room for over 20 years and was discovered by the Environment Health Officers under Kaduna North Local Government Area of Kaduna State while on assignment.

Hajiya Hafsat Mohammed Baba, the state Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, made the disclosure in Kaduna on Friday.

She explained that the state government would take full financial responsibility for Ibrahim Ado‘s medical care until he is fully recovered.

The commissioner lamented that on Thursday, the staff of her ministry were at the house of the victim to take him to the Psychiatric hospital, Barnawa but there was resistance from the community.

According to her, “The Kaduna State Police Command has to intervene today, Friday before he was taken to the psychiatric hospital Barnawa.”

The commissioner further explained that the state government has started tracking Ibrahim Ado’s family so that by the time he gets better, he would be reunited with them.

She also assured that the police command would soon present a report on the circumstances behind the man being locked up for all these years for better understanding.

DSP Mohammed Jalige, the Police Public Relations Officer in Kaduna State, had told journalists that a thorough investigation would be conducted on the matter.
