JUST IN: House Of Representatives To Hold Emergency Session Today

House of Representatives is to hold an emergency session today.

Glamtush reports that the House of Representatives is billed for an emergency sitting today at 1 p.m.

This is according to a notice to members, relevant staff members, and journalists.

The Senate had an emergency plenary on Saturday to consider and approve some economic bills.

The Senate had approved an upward review of the Ways and Means loan accessible to the Federal Government from 5 to 15 per cent.

According to the lawmakers, it would enable the Federal Government to meet its immediate and future obligations with the approval of the ways and means by the National Assembly, and advances to the Federal Government by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The Senate also passed another legislation that seeks to extend the implementation of the 2022 supplementary budget by six months, from June to December 2023, which the House earlier approved on Thursday.

Though the Order Paper for Sunday’s sitting is not out yet, the House may be concurring with the Senate on the bills, a prerequisite for legislation to be assented to by the President.

It is also possible for Buhari to sign the bills into law before handing over power to the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, on Monday.

Details later…
