Traditional rulers from the seven Yoruba-speaking states have commended IsedowoGoldberg’s youth empowerment initiative during the flag-off of the campaign in Ile-Ife, Osun State recently. With the initiative, Goldberg is extending its links beyond culture and tradition to supporting the economic aspirations of the people of the region.

At the launch, which took place at his palace, the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, led scores of first class traditional rulers in the Southwest to shower encomiums on Goldberg lager beer and Nigerian Breweries for the people-investment project. The Ooni described Isedowo as a bold step at improving the lot of small scale entrepreneurs in the region.

Oba Joseph Adebayo Adewole, Owa Ajero of Ijero Ekiti, also lauded Goldberg forIsedowo, saying that the initiative would enable youth in the region to improve their artisanship. “No doubt, we have seen that Goldberg elevates the Yoruba people through initiatives that directly affect the lives of the people. Goldberg has given the young men and women a platform to showcase and improve their handiwork and get rewarded for it,” the traditional ruler said.

Earlier, the Ooni of Ife said: “On behalf of my brothers from the seven Yoruba speaking states, I thank Goldberg lager beer and Nigerian Breweries for this initiative. By leading the way to support the businesses and entrepreneurial potential of artisans in the Southwest, you have challenged other corporate bodies to give back to the society where they operate.”

He further called on the youth in the region to take advantage of the initiative to better their craftsmanship and also congratulated the beneficiaries rewarded during the occasion to make good use of their reward.

Interested participants who wish to benefit from the empowerment scheme are required to showcase their business ideas and how they impact the society at any of the Isedowo centres across the Southwest region. There will be a screening of these participants and their business ideas across the region at those centres after which the top 100 participants will be rewarded with a grant of ₦300,000 each, totalling ₦30million for all participants to support their businesses. Participants must be 18 years and above and must speak Yoruba fluently.

The train moves to Ekiti State on September 13 to begin registration and collation of business proposals submitted by interested artisans in the state. Then there will be screening and selection of artisans who will undergo a live audition and reward onSeptember 22 in Ado-Ekiti.

Goldberg is known across the Southwest region as a leading supporter of culture and tradition and through Isedowo, it has deepened its connections with the people by supporting their economic aspirations.
