The Kalakuta Museum also known as the Kalakuta Republic Museum was home to the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti, his family and band members in the 1970s. Before being turned into a museum, the home used to be a recording studio and commune to the late Fela. The name of the museum, ‘Kalakuta’, is an imitation of the prison cell ‘Calcutta’ that Fela inhabited during his time in jail. Fela’s personal effects are displayed in the museum and the grave of the late musician is also located there. It is a nice place to visit to learn some more about the great music legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti. Jumia Travel, the leading online travel agency, shares 4 interesting things to do near the Kalakuta Museum.
