Nigeria is sustaining the induction of digital technological devices in the Military Campaigns against insecurity plaguing parts of the Nation’s territorial integrity.

The Minister of Defence Maj Gen Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd) gave this assurance in a remark at the graduation lecture for Course 28 participants, National  Defence College, Abuja.

The Defence Minister, represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Defence Sab’iu Zakari said Nigeria as a global player is pulling her weight among Nations of the World exploiting digital economy, Security and in other areas of our national lives.

He contextualised the nexus between Security, Defence and digital economy spotlighting the positive narrative of the digital economy as means of engaging teeming youths and its adaptation negatively on the other hand for the perpetuation of Cybercrimes as a tool for undermining National  Security.

It is in the light of the criminal deployment of digital sophistication and know-how by the Non-state actors that he challenged Security and Defence establishments to continue to play a key role in Digital  Nigeria as typified by the National Defence College symbolic lectures at all times.

While commending the leadership of the  National Defence  College for pursuing the ideals of the College he said the country under President MuhammaduBuhari is adopting, adapting and internalising functional global digital Security cum economic templates.

General Magashi (rtd) expressed delight over the choice of the topic of the graduation lecture: “Digital Economy and National Development ” delivered by the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami whom he described as the master of the digital  economy.

The Minister who is the Chairman Governing Board of the College noted that it is unprecedented that ICT recently contributed about 14.07 per cent to the Nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) said NDC’S graduation lecture has become a strategic platform for research, training and intellectual discussion and debate for national development imperatives.
