Popular Tamil actress and anchor, VJ Chitra, was today found dead in a room at a hotel in Chennai’s Nazrathpet on December 9.

According to reports, after completing the shooting at EVP Film City, Chitra had returned to her hotel room around 2:30 AM, where she was staying with her fiancee Hemanth.

In his statement to the police, Hemanth reportedly claimed that after returning from the shooting, Chitra told him that she is going for a bath. When she didn’t come out for long, he knocked on the door but got no response.

Therefore, he then called the hotel staff and opened the door with a duplicate key, and reportedly found Chitra hanging from the ceiling fan.

Meanwhile, fans and colleagues of Chitra expressed their shock over her untimely death and mourn the loss on social media.

Her body has been sent to Kilpauk government hospital for post-mortem.
