The Imo State Government has announced in a statement the reduction of its ministries from the existing 22 to 13. This is in line with what it called “disturbing economic situation in the country”.
The statement which was signed by Governor Rochas Okorocha’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS) Mr. Samuel Onwuemeodo read that, “Following the disturbing general economic situation in the country, which has compelled both the Federal Government and the states to resort to the adoption of certain adjustment measures and the determination of the Rescue Mission government in the state to make the ministries effective and productive, the number of ministries in the state has been pruned from twenty two to thirteen.”
Equally, the organized labour also warns that it would react if this leads to job losses. It made its position known through the State Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Mr. Austin Chilakpu.
